I believe Michelle will be us an example of excellence to woman of color. I have not heard her speak but the way she carries her self I admire. I feel she will not bring shame upon us as black people. I feel she is well rounded andshe is very proud of her husband with gleam in her eyes.

Enjoyed Pastor Dee Dee. However, we must be cautious not to become limited in our thinking or mindset concerning ministry. The role of the pastor has become so diversified and consuming that I understand the role and prhaps the necessity of the“co-pastor“. May times the co-pastoring works for a local assembly when the roles are well defined by the pastor. Finally, regarding the first lady--we must understand and remember that foremost she is“human“and subject to the very same things we are. Because she walks closely with the pastor does not eliminate, exempt or preclude her attacks by the enemy or others. Many times she is not treated as well as her husband by the laity and this can give pause to the enemy working on her mind. Our role as leadership and laity is to pray consistently and constantly for those in ministry--be it the first lady or the pastor

I would like to say hi to first lady Dee Dee Freeman I watch her and her husband always and they have blessed me. I agree so much with the pastor wife being hurtful. I myself have watch my pastors wife and some things that i saw was not holy. Like how she was other women. And how she has certain clicks that runs to her. There is so much more that i'm unhappy with but i'm waiting on the lord to bring to another church.

I was looking at some of the comments that some of your listeners were making about the fact that the music is just about gone from this station. The problem with a majority of our people is they don't empower themselves with knowledge.
We too often fail to appreciate a blessing when it is presented to us. In saying 'us' I mean blacks. This station is a blessing 'not in disguise' but right in front of us. Too often we chose to have blinders on to say 'Oh I didn't know what was happening'. The fact that so many of the news stations, talk and TV, are controlled by the right is proof that this radio station needs to be kept strong and running until God tell Jesus that it is time. Music is wonderful. I have CD's, other radio stations, and the stations offered by my cable provider. Knowledge is power and a power that cannot be stolen by the wickedness of this world. There is too much going on for us to be complaining about a little lack of music rather thanking and praising the Living God for allowing this knowledge in come into existence. The fact that this entity has come into fruition is God. The news is not broadcast correctly and we all know that. HOW DARE WE, BLACKS AND OTHERS AFFECTED, COMPLAIN ABOUT THE BLESSINGS OF GOD. May God strengthen you with his strength and keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on him. I pray this message gets through. If not then I'll send it over and over again until it does. Determination is the key and you all show what it is to be determined in God. Blessings and salutation.

You guys were talking about Beyonce not going to church anymore because she is a distraction. I heard a scripture about not forsaking the assembly of the saints.LETS make sure we don't interpret the word according to our own opinion. Because the bible doesn't say don't forsake the sunday assembly of the saints. Beyonce can attend bible studies, home study groups or even individual studies w/ other saints. The goal is not to attend church, the goal is not to maintain a good church attendance record. The goal is for our lives to reflect Christ and for us to grow in a relationship with Him. So for her this may work, For those taking a picture w/ their phone it may help them focus on why they are even there.SO I think that last thing Beyonce needs is Christians saying because she no longer attends church she's not a real, good, or adequate Christian.Thats my 2 cents.

What's up with the talk format??? What happen to the music..we now have no way of hearing the latest cd's that are being released...why didn't you do a couple of hours (2) per day of talk and stick with what worked.. You already won the awards to prove that. I really miss heaven 1580.

Why does a christian program like this sound like those heathens on the TV stations, making predictions like psychis (witchcraft); believing all the election polls; for satan believes and trembles; the TV stations are heathens and when I watch TV, I'll be praying a lot. Nothing is said about the Lord's will; all is said about woman/man's wills. I pray that the USA wakes up soon to know the Living and True God. We, christians, need to pray more and rebuke these satanic forces in the media--hateful and evil manifestations of satan. The earth truly is the Lord's, the fullness, the world, government, politics, and everything & everybody. Amen. You don't have to post this if you choose not.

Hi Marsha and all of the new Heaven 1580 staff. I thank God for all of the new programming ideas that God is dropping in your hearts to help believers stay on track. I don't get to attend Bible study anymore because of my present work schedule. I was praying for a way to return, and God really blessed in that He filled my need through the new Power Lunch Bible Study. The message about the tongue was such a blessing and the teacher brought forth such deep spiritual jewels that we as faith walkers have to constantly be mindful of, since we do not always“watch our words“. Thanks Marsha for the free book. I received “The Invisible Hand“ which I know will also add to my blessing closet for years to come. These are the“things that really matter, those that come from above“. God Bless you all and keep on listening to the prompting of the Lord!

"Hi, I am an old time listener. I am 43 years old and have listened to Heaven 1580 for a very long time. I have friends who have also listened and supported this station for years. We look forward to change and accept change but we request that you change back a little. We are all begging you to consider playing some gospel music. We cannot do without some music. We really and truly need it from you at Heaven 1580. We could go somewhere else to get music but it would not be the same. In reality, we cannot go somewhere else to get what we were receiving from Heaven 1580. You may not know it but YOU provided US with so much. For starters, you provided us with old and new gospel music; A variety selection that was out of this world, Love and care like no other station, Family time And in turn we were loyal listeners. Please tell us what we must do and who we must contact to make music part of Heaven 1580. Just like everyone should have a home cooked meal once in awhile, we need you to give us some good ole gospel music once in awhile. Let's work together. Please help us to help you become the best and number 1 station. I know that I speak for many when I say I thank you for the many years of joy, song and laughter. I thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. May God Continue to Bless This Station.

I was so surprised a few weeks ago when I heard a new host. I just thought folks were on vacation for a couple of days. I tuned back in later that day and there was still talk. Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I am not a fan of talk radio. However, I will stop and engage my mind if something intelligent is being said. However, the new programming is REALLY BAD!! The hosts are uninteresting and not well-spoken. The few times I tried to give the new fomat a chance and open my mind, I couldn't follow; no clear theme or topic and poor prediction. This is very disappointing. Why would you all switch from something that was clearly a success?

Today was my first Friday to be able to listen to Ak's show and from what I heard, I was truly blessed. I thoroughly enjoyed the caller's comments and encouragement about“when you go to the altar, you are going to die.“That was truly a life changing comment for me, particuarly as I am preparing for marriage. It really has changed my perspective already about what my expectations should be as a soon-to-be wife. I also appreciated Kevin's comments about encouraging singles to do things in a way that opposes the world.Again, I am so excited I had a chance to tune in. I know how much Kevin prepares for these shows and its such a blessing to just see how the two of you, and even callers, end up being“in the Spirit“in your topics and comments. May the Lord continue to bless this work and I pray that you are blessed EXCEEDING, ABUNDANTLY, ABOVE anything you could ever ask or think!!

I really enjoy the talk radio format! All of you are really enlightening the listeners. The“Gas“song is great! I do hope you have copyrighted your song and are receiving royalties. I've heard it sung on another local radio station.

Good Morning Marsha: I'm unable to call due to being at work -- As far as Rev. Wright -- pride and disagreement allowed the enemy to deceive him -- What he need to do is apologize to Obama publicly and reconcile their relationship in the name of God not politics. I believe Obama wife is a beautiful black woman that would be an excellent first lady (strong black female figure standing with husband and not trying be seen but support her husband.I love you guys -- you guys are such blessing to me and many more. Shouting out from New York.

(((Let me warn you....it's a long one))) lol
I had no idea that the station format was new nor did I know that y'all were catching a lot of local flack for the change... I was simply logging on JUST to say "GREAT JOB" and discovered all the disgust with the new format....
I've read through some of the comments on this board and I can understand that its disappointing when change comes about. I can imagine that 1580 has probably been a staple in the DC area for a long time and that the old format had become a very familiar thing... So i sympathize with the DC-family... but i pray that you can mourn the loss and embrace the change...because it TRULY IS for the better...
My Testimony...my praise...
I'm not in D.C. so I must admit that I don't have the emotional tie to the old format...but I just wanted to say to the 1580 leaders and show hosts that this station has BLESSED ME!!
I'd been praying and wishing that our local gospel station would do at least one or two talk shows...they seem to tease us with a topic but won't do a whole show; but it obvious that the people WANT to talk. So I emailed the suggestion the other day....but got no response.
Shortly thereafter, a myspace buddy informed me of 1580 and it has TRULY been a blessing ever since!! I love talk radio but I get very fed up with the non-Christian prospective that i have to deal with when I listen to it... So I appreciate having Heaven 1580 to infuse my day with Godly ideas, Godly encouragement, Godly advice, etc.
(((Walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly)))
Don't get me wrong, I love gospel music but I am GLAD to have this option available... and now I've become addicted to this station via internet.... I find myself turning my desk radio off (which is our local gospel station playing music) and tuning in to Ak's show and leaving it on there the entire work day..... I turn 1580 on again when I get home at night to hear all the rebroadcasts on the net.... ((((YEAH, i like it JUST that much)))))... :)
So, to the D.C. mourners, you can find Christian music stations ANYwhere (we have like 4 or 5 in my town)... but your hometown station (1580) is onto something great... Support them and move with the wave...don't try to jump on after it blows up. You've already mentioned that you have other Christian music stations there so try to welcome this variety.
I TRULY LOVE THIS STATION and I will promote it from my city and among my friends, family, etc..... I love the integrity of the hosts...(which shows through their comments and opinions)... I like how they don't censor the Gospel truth and I pray as the station expands (because it WILL expand GREATLY) that you all promise not to compromise the truth...or muzzle the hosts.
Just know that the cyber community is LOVING THIS... Christian Talk Radio is truly cutting edge and a blessing to the Body of Christ... Be encouraged and keep up the good work.
REMEMBER: God's people are perishing because of a lack of KNOWLEDGE.................. not music......... and in the few days that I've been listening, this station has been a WEALTH of knowledge!!!

Overprotective Parents:At a certain age being overprotective is costly. Give you an example. I have a friend whose mother would not allow her to watch simple disney movies, tv shows that had any kissing in them. Her mother constantly told her daughter that she did not want her to get pregnant at an early age. Long story short, my friend ended up getting pregnant. To some degree being overprotective says to the teen I don't trust you, i don't trust the word I put in you as a child, I don't trust the God thats in you, and I don't trust God to protect and convict you.So being overprotective can be a hazzard just as not training your child in the way they should go.of course i think it needs to be age appropriate.

In reference to the school banning facebook and myspace accounts.I too work with teens but I am 25 with a myspace and facbook accounts. I even now need to get a beebo account because most of my teens are there. The schools position is a clear sign of ignorance. Its like back in the day people would say rap was of the devil and that all rap was banned from churches. Myspace, facebook, bebo, rap are all vehicles and tools. How we use them either corrupt or for the glory of God is the difference. TO make a blanket statement and say no accounts is to say I don't know enough about it so I am just going to cancel it out.I think it shows teens that we one, are irrelevant and out of touch with their community. It also says we don't trust them (and sometimes justifiably so) to maintain an account and don't have the time to stay on top of what they are doing.Clearly they are wanting attention and myspace and facbooks are no different. They are calling out for attention that is often missing at home... lets not put it on the kids. they are a reflection of their parents.

I would like to say thanks for talking about issues people are affraid to talk about. But you're right about black folks not wanting to talk. But I love getting counseling now. Because in the multitude of counsel their is safety. I want to make sure I'm being led by God and not in my flesh.

I just love this new format!! After the initial change, I was a little dissappointed, but within a few minutes, I became hooked. This is information, these are subjects that can save lives, mend souls, and guide the lost. when listening to the new Heaven1580, I consider myself in class learning. Keep up the good work, don't change back, we can get music anywhere, we need informaton. Anyhow, the reason I e-mailed was to contact the Akintunde show. I know it is grown man Thursdays, but this sister be listenin'. :) I would like to say thank you for allowing people to share their hearts, the lives. There was a gentlemen on there today that talked about being the same way of his father, but the difference is that he accepted Christ. That totally hit home for me because I was just whining to God a few months ago about be in my 30's and still single with no kids. Why is this hapening to me, I asked God. One day He let me know that he is allowing some things that I was taught by my parents to let go, He is allowing me to make some choices that my mom and dad did not make, He is allowing me to tear down some strongholds. So men I heard that, a sister was straight in tears for joy. Love you all and we are spreading | |
